The task was to find a transition between two states and design something in help of it.
Bunki means shelter, usually built by children from any kind of pieces of materials lying around.
It can help children learn how to cooperate with each other in order to create something bigger, and share the outcome.
The blocks can be attached in two ways. Either by using the matching shapes or the two additional cyclindrical unit.
Each unit is functional on its own thanks to their original shape (sofa, desk with a chair, easy sofa) which also makes it possible to combine them into bigger constructions, moreover at the end of day, it helps to pack them in compact rectangular blocks for easier storage.
Due to the hierarchy of the attachment methods, children from all age groups can challenge themselves playing with the BUNKI units.

BUNKI is a kindergarden toy system, meant to create a transition between playing alone and building together something for shared use.

Our research showed that children are not motivated enough to share experiences during kindergarden games and neither the toys are inviting them to do so. Our design can develop specific social skills which are very important at this age.
